Risborough Rangers ended 2014 with a tame goalless draw against local rivals Amersham Town in South Midlands League Division One.
On a bitterly cold afternoon, Rangers made the short journey to Amersham hopeful of continuing their recent good form and the visitors started on the front foot.
It seemed only a matter of time before Rangers took the lead, but a lack of cutting edge combined with a poor final ball saw the first half come to a close with neither goalkeeper called into action.
In the second period, Amersham grew into the game as they enjoyed more of the ball and put pressure on the away side, but the Rangers defence stood firm and held out, despite a controversial sending off for Risborough captain Martin Griggs after a collision with the home goalkeeper.
In a game that lacked goalmouth action, the 10 men of Rangers almost snatched it at the death when Jamie Shrimpton headed against the post, however it was not to be as the match ended goalless.
After this result, Risborough go into the New Year in fourth position and remain firmly in the promotion hunt.
Rangers start 2015 with a home game this Saturday against Codicote at 3pm.
