There was no love lost in the ADL Premier Division on Valentine’s Day as nine-man Aylesbury Dynamos moved back into second spot after a bad-tempered affair with Long Marston.
Chris Shennan was the hero as his hat-trick inspired the Dynamos to a 3-2 win in a feisty game that saw seven yellow cards and two reds.
In Division One, in what was billed as a tough game to predict, leaders Wendover thumped second-placed Bedgrove Dynamos 6-0. Bedgrove have now just one point from their nine and as a result they’ve been leapfrogged by Aylesbury Sports, who won a 12-goal extravaganza 8-4 over FC Sapndits.
Sports have three of the division’s top scorers after Ian Pearce (4), Kirsten Edworthy (3) and Adam Richmond were all on the score sheet against Spandits, with Liam Addlesee netting a consolation hat-trick.
Longwick Sports still harbour hopes of promotion after they hammered Wingrave 7-0, as do Aylesbury Park Rangers, who were 6-0 winners over Bedgrove United after Aaron Bomham netted his second hat-trick in a week.
In Division Two, Long Crendon remain strong title favourites after winning 3-1 away at Quainton, although second-placed Tetsworth kept the pressure on with a 4-3 win over Tring Titans.
Bucks CC also kept themselves in contention thanks to a 6-3 win against Rivets. Andy Wright bagged a brace with the game’s other goals coming from Ben Floyd, Ryan Hamilton, Jon Miller, Mark Swierczynski and Ryan Hamilton.
Andrew Lambie scored three goals in Haddenham Utd’s 4-2 win over FC Spandits, for whom Simon Ridgeway racked up a double.
In Division Three, Waddesdon eventually romped to a 5-0 win over SUFC after a tight first half as Lee Petitt netted four goals and Adam Chambers scored the other.
Wingrave Reserves could also be in the promotion mix after beating Oving Reserves 3-0 - Mike Martin, Louis Birdsey and Jack Edwards with their goals.
The title race in Division Four is over after Luke Trewavas’ hat-trick helped FC Mandeville Reserves win 3-0 at AC Meadowcroft and seal the title.
The chase for the second promotion spot is between Tetsworth Reserves, who had the week off, and Long Crendon Reserves, who beat Tring Titans Reserves 4-1 thanks to goals from Luca Farchaoni, Ryan Scott, Joe Callow-Salt and Liam Wing.
In the cup competitions, FC Mandeville’s cup runs continued as they saw off Long Marston Reserves 5-3. Stuart Creaser and Chris Hughes bagged a brace apiece to send Mandeville through in the Tom Sparkes League Cup. Ryan Macintosh scored the other.
In the Sheffield Jackman Cup, Ludgershall made it into the semi-finals after Simon Oppenheimer’s goal sealed a 1-0 win over Tring Town Amateurs.
