Nightmare start sees Risborough's unbeaten run finally end

Risborough Rangers paid for a disastrous start as their 15-game unbeaten run came to an end after a 4-2 defeat against Hillingdon Borough on Saturday.

All their hard work came undone in 20 minutes of madness as Hillingdon, who are battling relegation in SSML Division One, raced into a 4-0 lead.

Everything came off for the home side and a shell-shocked Risborough struggled to muster a response although Martin Griggs crashed a free-kick against the crossbar.

Rangers restored some pride after the break and clawed two goals back through their substitutes, one from Chris Davies and the other from 16-year-old Geri Nicosia.

Nicosia had a header just wide and Jamie Shrimpton saw a shot well saved but despite pushing hard, there was to be no dramatic comeback.

Risborough are seventh in SSML Division One and have games in hand over all the teams around them.

They’re in action again on Wednesday when they visit Southall, and this weekend Rangers entertain league leaders Edgware Town.
