Hogg pounces to make a point for Tring Athletic at Wembley

Wembley scored after just four minutes through Yassine Fehmi-Gil, but youngster Ollie Hogg equalised early in the second half to secure a point for Tring.

It was a quick-fire start from the hosts; the ball was fed to tricky Zain Gangadeen out on the left, and he pulled the ball across goal to Yassine Fehmi- Gil, who shot into the far corner of the goal at the second attempt after his initial effort was blocked.

In the 25th minute Athletic’s Kieron Turner showed good skills in the area before shooting under pressure straight at the keeper.

A few minutes later, Tring skipper Chris Salmon had a good chance from a corner, while keeper Jack Hopwood saved well at the other end.

Athletic’s Adam Toone had to go off just before half-time with an injury to his hip, but the visitors equalised just 10 minutes into the second half.

It was Hogg who was the hero as he fired low and hard into the far corner following a terrific run down the right by defender Lee Stobbs.

Soon afterwards, Salmon limped off following a heavy tackle, with Greg Deer coming on in his place.

Athletic were enjoying a good spell, with Kieron Turner having his shot blocked following neat passing between himself and Chris Vardy.

A number of late challenges were creeping into the game, however no yellow cards were shown for these – although the referee did show yellow cards to Sam Joliffe and Kevin McManus for dissent.

In the 81st minute Vardy eluded his markers but keeper Grigoli Zulmatashvili brought of a good save and the loose ball was then hacked away by a defender.

In the last minute Hopwood produced a terrific save, saving Gangadeen’s pile driver from just 12 yards to earna point for his side.

A draw was probably the right result as neither side dominated the game. Both sides tried to play football but conditions were not ideal with a blustery wind and dry pitch.
