Ducks left heartbroken after late Chalfont goals

The Ducks caught their hosts cold by flying into a two-goal lead after just 12 minutes, Tyrone Taylor netting twice.

The first goal came on only four minutes when midfield maestro Sonny French sprayed an excellent arced pass for Taylor to run onto, and although home goalkeeper Michael Power-Simpson saved the one-on-one, the ball rebounded to the striker to fire in the rebound.

To the delight, and some disbelief, of the travelling faithful, United then extended their lead when a terrible kick out from Power-Simpson went straight to Taylor who showed good skill to direct a half-volley back on target and into the empty net.

Unsurprisingly, the hosts fought back and had a goal to their name before the break through Michael Murray’s header on 23 minutes.

Aylesbury continued to battle valiantly through the second half and they looked on course for their first win of 2016 as they pressed for a third goal.

But missed chances came back to haunt them when the home side equalised on 86 minutes through substitute Kofi Lockhart-Adam who took advantage of some lacklustre Aylesbury marking to convert a free-kick and level at 2-2.

And things then turned from bad to worse for the Ducks.

In stoppage time, a penalty save from Zaki Oualah looked to have been enough for a deserved point, but it wasn’t to be as Saints found time to engineer a 92nd minute winner thanks to Alex Paine, sending Aylesbury home empty handed.

The Ducks have now dropped inside the Division One Central relegation zone ahead of this weekend’s home game against Fleet Town.
