Draws confirmed as Aylesbury teams gear up for new season

The build-up to the new season continued this week when the draws were made for both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, featuring Aylesbury's two Southern League football clubs.

Both teams enter the FA Cup at the preliminary stage, with FC drawn at home to fellow Division One Central side Hanwell Town, a tie that will take place at Haywood Way on August 20.

The Ducks, meanwhile, face a preliminary round home tie against either Newport Pagnell or Biggleswade United, depending on who progresses from the extra preliminary round on August 6.

The tie will take place on Saturday, August 20, although could be moved with Thame United drawn at home on the same day if they progress in their own fixture.

In the FA Trophy preliminary round, the Moles have been given another home tie, this time against Ware who have transferred to the Ryman Division One North this season, while Chatham Town of the Ryman League Division One South provide the opposition for Glyn Creaser’s side.

Should United come through that tie, they will face a trip to Kent to take on either Ramsgate or Hastings United in the first qualifying round.

Both teams also begin their respective pre-season campaigns this Saturday when FC visit Walton & Hersham and United travel to Mursley.

In other news, Aylesbury FC confirmed on Friday that three more players have been added to their squad for the new season following the signings of Jonny Montgomery and JJ Lofthouse-Smith.

Local boy Ben Stevens returns for his eighth season having joined from Aylesbury United when the club formed in 2009. The tough-tackling, consistent defender can play all across the back line.

Also joining are two other defenders in the energetic, skillful Victor Ocansey, who played for Chalfont St Peter and Windsor last season, and ball-playing centre-back Jordan Jenkins. The tall 24-year-old spent last year at neighbours Leighton Town where he was voted Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year.
