Risborough Rangers’ hopes of promotion in South Midlands League Division One suffered a blow at the weekend when they were heavily beaten 4-1 by FC Broxbourne Borough.
On a difficult surface that had only passed a pitch inspection in the morning, a depleted Rangers side made the ideal start when Laurence Clark put them into a 12th minute lead.
The hosts rallied, however, and scored on the stroke of half-time to go in level.
The second half was a one-sided affair as the visitors capitulated, conceding three more goals which were dispatched in the last 20 minutes by an in-form Borough, who deserved their 4-1 victory.
With this match the only game to be played in the league on the day due to the poor weather conditions, Risborough remain in fourth place, five points clear of the team below them.
