Kieran Turner scored his second hat-trick in as many weeks as Tring Athletic thumped Leverstock Green 4-0 in Saturday’s SSML Premier Division Dacorum derby.

Leverstock had produced a marvellous display in midweek to put six goals past Hadley, however that level of performance was nowhere to be seen as they crashed to an emphatic home defeat to their fierce rivals.

It took just 35 seconds for the visitors to take the lead. The Green defence was in disarray as the ball was pulled back from the bye-line, and Turner pounced to smash the ball home.

Chris Vardy should have added a second for Tring in the fourth minute when he was left all alone in front of goal, but the normally deadly marksman headed wide.

However, nine minutes later an attempt to head away a Tring cross ended up as virtually a flick-on to present Vardy with a chance to shoot home the second goal – and this time he made no mistake to double Athletic’s lead.

The Leverstock side looked lifeless and lethargic, and the performance was completely lacking the work rate which had been seen on Tuesday night. Tring keeper Jack Hopwood was largely untroubled during the match.

There was no improvement from the Leverstock side during the second half, and Turner took advantage of some dreadful defending to add two further goals, shooting home from the edge of the box on 68 minutes and finishing from six yards out on 76 minutes to complete his hat-trick.
