Aylesbury United made it three games unbeaten at the weekend when they notched a 2-0 away win over second-bottom AFC Hayes.
There were debuts for Sonny French, who has signed for the club from rivals Aylesbury FC, as well as goalkeeper Dan Green, while Shaun Owens replaced Jordan Frederick in midfield.
The Ducks enjoyed the better of the first 45 minutes with Lea Coulter twice going close before French lashed a shot wide while Joey Acheampong saw his effort blocked.
The breakthrough finally arrived on 26 minutes through a flowing counter attack from one end of the field to the other. Acheampong, by the corner flag, found Field, who in turn found French and he played in Coulter with a fine through ball. Though his initial effort was blocked, fortune favoured the United man as the ball rebounded off him and into the empty net.
The visitors maintained their lead through to half-time before AFC Hayes enjoyed their best spell of the match in the opening stages of the second half, but Green was on hand to preserve United’s lead.
Then came the decisive blow when an inviting Acheampong cross was turned in by captain Jack Wood on his 250th club appearance.
United are 11th in Division One Central and play twice over the Easter weekend, first at home to Hanwell Town on Saturday before they go to local rivals Aylesbury FC on Monday.
