Corinthians Reserves romp to emphatic victory at local rivals Totternhoe

Corries started brightly, with debutante Callum Kerr linking well with James Bushe up front, and they deservedly took the lead with 15 minutes on the clock. Joe Jary won the ball, beat a man and fed Bushe who rounded the keeper to finish with aplomb.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 to the visitors, with Will Salmon driving the ball home from a set piece.

Martyn Travers pulled off two fine save to maintain Corries’ two-goal advantage before the break, and two enforced substitutions stretched Nobby King’s squad to the limits. Leigh Alcock damaged his Achilles and Dan Wills went off with a virus.

Despite this, Tring were quickly out of the blocks at the start of the second half, with Bushe embarking on a jinking run and again rounding the keeper to make it 3-0 to Corries.

Drama soon followed when Joe Jary was sent off for handball, but the resulting penalty was blazed over the bar.

Late on, 10 man Corries sealed a great day–- and it was all the result of hard work on the training pitch, with a King-designed set piece. Mark Johnson pulled the ball left to Stuart Howe, to the surprise of Totternhoe – his first effort was blocked, but he drilled home the rebound.
