A clinical display in front of goal saw Aylesbury United overcome fellow Division One Central side Marlow to book their place in the final of the Berks & Bucks Cup.
The Ducks had to withstand plenty of early pressure from the home side with Dan Hicks spurning a glorious chance to give Marlow a fifth minute lead, and the hosts were made to pay for their wasteful finishing when, on seven minutes, Lewis Putman and strike partner Stacey Field combined for the latter to cross for Steve Hatch, whose thumping header found the net.
The goal had very much came against the run of play and Marlow were once again on the front foot with Lee Barner and Lewis Gabbidon the next to go close.
However, it was the visitors who ended the half in the ascendency and in first half stoppage time, they gave themselves some breathing space with another well-taken goal as Putman lashed home.
It took Marlow just 90 seconds of the second period to find the net and halve the deficit as Gabbidon’s deflected effort wrong-footed United goalkeeper Tahj Bell, but midway through the half, the Ducks sealed their place in the final through Bill Morgan, who headed in Jesse Waites’ free-kick.
Tony Joyce’s side will face either Maidenhead United or Chesham United in the final.
