Boost for Thame as former League One footballer signs on for new season

Thame United have received a major boost ahead of the forthcoming season with the signing of former League One player Steve Gregory.

Gregory, a 29-year old midfielder, played over 25 games for Bournemouth in the 2011/12 season before moving on to Gillingham, for whom he made over 50 appearances in the 2013/14 season, with two spells at AFC Wimbledon, including a victorious play-off final victory against Luton Town that secured league status for Wimbledon.

Gregory has also appeared twice for England C, playing in matches against Wales and Belgium.

Commenting on the signing, assistant manager Stuart Blaik said: “Steve is a fantastic signing for us and comes with wealth of recent football league experience.

“He will improve us in so many ways, none more so than helping develop the young players we have coming through. We are delighted he has joined us and we are looking forward to seeing him in a Thame United shirt this coming season.”

Since finishing his professional career Gregory has established Fitlife Health Club Ltd, and is in the process of completing a major refurbishment of facilities in Haddenham to create a bespoke boutique gym, opening on 05 September (www.fitlife.co.uk).
