Aylesbury United Girls Under 14 Greens team are champions of Bedfordshire FA Girls Football League Division 2

After the pandemic caused the league to be abandoned last year, the team held things together with remote fancy dress Zoom quizzes, fund raisers, football skill challenges and even a Covid safe Bubble Football.

“Although lockdowns caused some disruption to the running of this season’s league the girls didn’t let that phase them,” said team manager James Byrne.

“They have shown their love and respect for the game, their fantastic team spirit and their determination and dedication on and off the pitch which is what makes them the deserving winners of the league this season.

“Every girl in the team has been integral to this fantastic achievement and they all deserve to feel very proud.”

James, along with Matt Pigram in the coaching team have helped the girls to develop ethics of great sportsmanship.

They finished the season with victory against Wootton Rangers Youth and celebrated with a delivery of outdoor pizza and ice cream!
