After three weeks off, many Aylesbury & District League sides were back in action and eager to get 2015 off to a winning start on a blustery Saturday afternoon.

Wendover’s ongoing battle against APR continued in the County Cup as they came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3. Aaron Huddlestone, Bruno Passaro, Tristan Nicholls and Darren Woolard all netted for Wendover.

In the Sheffield Jackman Cup, Tring Town AFC continued their run of upsets by knocking out Bedgrove Utd from two divisions above. Ryan Shefras put Tring into a 2-0 lead before Utd’s Steve Hyland hit back, only for Shefras to complete his hat-trick in extra-time.

AC Meadowcroft almost upset Quainton but a Jodean Horwood brace plus goals from Carl Gunning and Matt Bradbury was enough for Quainton to win 4-3. David McGovern (2) and Justin Fielding scored for Meadowcroft.

In the Marsworth Senior Cup, Bucks CC saw off Long Marston 2-1 while Longwick beat Northchurch 4-1 and Walton Court were outdone by a Darren Gasgoyne hat-trick as Haddenham Utd ran out 4-3 winners.

Meanwhile, back in league action and in the Premier Division, Aylesbury Dynamos’ unbeaten run was ended by a 2-1 defeat against Elmhurst. Jamie Lewis’ goal not enough as Waqar Mohammed and Ibra Khan upset the odds and ensured Dynamos missed out on top spot.

Pond Park Rangers’ revival at the bottom continued when they beat AFC Victoria 7-3 thanks to goals from Geoff Haines, Rhys Blaken (2), Gary Bull, Jack Thompson, Safeer Butt and Matt Long.

In Division One, Bedgrove Dynamos kept up the pressure to consolidate second place with a 2-1 away win at FC Spandits], while an Alex Watkins double earned Wingrave a 2-2 draw with Aylesbury Sports. Ian Pearce and Rob Takacs netted for Aylesbury.

In Division Two, Haddenham Utd won a nine-goal thriller over strugglers FC Spandits Reserves in a game that saw eight different goalscorers.

In the other game, Rivets Sports beat Stone Magnets St Johns 3-1.

In Division Three, Long Marston Reserves thrashed promotion rivals Rivets Sports Reserves 6-1 to go above them on goal difference after a 10-goal swing. Long Marston also have two games in hand.

Rhys Ratcliffe scored a hat-trick as Wingrave Reserves hammered Quainton Reserves by the same 6-1 score, while SUFC and Oving Reserves shared a goal apiece as Pat Hurst cancelled out Chris Cacketts’ opener.

FC Mandeville Reserves 100 per cent winning start in Division Four came to a surprise end when they were beaten 2-1 by Bedgrove Dynamos Reserves. James Dawe and a Pete Pete Scheu free-kick earned Bedgrove the points.

Second-placed Tetsworth Reserves once again failed to capitalise as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Long Crendon Reserves. Liam Wing, Liam Marshall and Harry Pettingell scoring.

The final game saw Waddesdon Reserves hammer Tring Titans Reserves 5-0.
