Aston leap frogged Amersham in SSML Division Two as a result, moving them up to ninth place.

Although Lamar Mason-Williams and Lewis Workman squandered early half chances, Amersham made the brighter start and deserved their 1-0 lead when it came.

Despite struggling, though, Aston pulled level before half-time through Mason-Williams before a better start to the second half was rewarded when Smith finished off good work from Workman, Woodward and Beckett.

Amerham levelled but Aston had the final say when Luke Russel crossed for Jay Williams to head home.

Smith said after the game: “We were very sloppy and gave the ball away far too many times for our liking, however we worked hard and did the difficult stuff.

“We soaked up what Amersham had to offer. We can certainly put this down as a get out of jail free card!”

Aston now face a big Easter weekend, first visiting Mursley on Saturday before hosting Clean Slate on Monday.
