ADL round-up: Big guns struck down by cup curse

The biggest of those came in the quarter-finals of the Michael Anthony sponsored Marsworth Cup when Division Two leaders Ludgershall came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and dump out defending champions Bucks CC of the ADL Premier Division.

In the reserve section, Wendover Reserves came from 2-1 behind to beat Stewkley, while Aylesbury Dynamos Reserves defeated Tring Town AFC Reserves for the second time in seven days after goals from Chris Cackett and Jens Von Haefen.

Wingrave Reserves had not won since October but thrashed Ludershall Reserves 6-1. Paul Perkins bagging a hat-trick with Rob Fenn, Brad Jones and Tom Bailey also on target.

In the Tom Sparks League Cup, Great Milton’s chances of a cup upset was blown away as they lost 10-0 to FC Mandeville, for whom Aaron Bonham (5) and Stuart Creaser (3) did the bulk of the damage.

In the league, there was one Premier Division game as Aylesbury Dynamos eased to a 5-1 away win at Elmhurst. Chris Shennan, Matt Logan, Jon Lloyd, Steve Lindsey and Craig Beale all netting.

In Division One, table-topping Long Crendon beat Wingrave 3-0 thanks to Tom Sykes, Ryan Scott and Archie Pettingell, while St Johns Sports were made to work by Bedgrove Dynamos before grinding out a 3-2 win as Ray Atiba-Davies, Kirsten Edworthy and Adam Richmond all netted.

New Zealand missed the chance to keep in touch as they lost 4-3 to FC Spandits, for whom Marc Addlesee, Dean Tansley, Paul Douglas and Cory Riley scored.

A Ryan Shefras hat-trick kept Tring Town AFC in the hunt as they beat Oving 4-0, while Bucks Reserves were 3-0 winners over Tetsworth.

In Division Two, Quainton put pressure on the leaders with a 5-2 win at FC Mandeville, Carl Gunning with a hat-trick, and Long Marston Reserves’ new-look side won again 4-2 over Waddesdon.

FC Spandits edged a nine-goal thriller 5-4 over Long Crendon Reserves, while Haddenham Utd Reserves are playing catch up on league games and battered Bedgrove Utd 7-1. Sam Hodges’ hat-trick and a brace for Andrew Lambie added to by goals from Darren Gascoyne and Jordan Brown.
