Dacorum & Tring trio maintain form in Hatfield 5km series

Three Dacorum and Tring AC Road Runners competed in the second race of the 2015 Hatfield 5km series, posting strong results across the board.

Jamie Marlow finished an impressive seventh overall out of nearly 200 runners, in a time of 17.30 – fast enough for fourth senior man – while Chris Kitchener was next home, in 36th overall in a new PB of 19.30.

Not far behind was Richard Bentley in 42nd, in a new PB of 19.56.

The race doubled as the Hertfordshire Vets 5k Championships, with Chris placing 10th overall in the MV40 category and Richard also 10th, in the MV50 category.

In other news, Martin Arnold and Felix Morris-Duffin ran the Leighton Buzzard 10 mile race, a tough course with a fast final mile, where Felix put in a speedy 1.13.14 and Martin finished in 1.17.49.

Katie Rance and Caroline Smart, meanwhile, took on the Rock Solid 10k obstacle race in Milton Keynes – a series of water, climbing, crawling, natural, balance beam and monkey bar obstacles over a 10k course – while Manon Pagniez earned a fabulous new 10km PB of 49.23 at La Noctambule, a night-time race involving more than 10,000 runners and winding through central Paris.

The club had 12 members out at various parkruns. Starting at Hemel Hempstead’s Gadebridge event, Freddie Truman-Williams, one of the club’s top U13 runners, finished ninth overall in his first outing at the event, in 21.51 for first JM11-14.

Close behind was Michael Lamb, 13th overall in 23.00 (first VM40-44), and Andy Mitchell, in a new Gadebridge PB of 25.42.

Star Phillips finished in 29.23, fast enough for first JW11-14, while Amy Wright ran her first-ever parkrun, finishing third JW11014 in 38.17.

Erica Klein travelled to the Hereford parkrun, where she finished seventh lady and first in her SW30-34 age group in a time of 26.47.

Kirsty Russell was only eight seconds off her PB at Cassiobury, finishing in 27.48, while over in Tring, Jamie Bailey was also not far off his Tring PB, finishing 14th overall in 21.46 for first JM11-14. Sam Burnell was close behind, in 23.38, crossing the line third in the JM11-14 category.

Richard Slack had a strong run at St Albans, finishing 15th overall out of 320 runners, for first VM35-39, in 19.09. Alastair Hinchliff crossed the line in 22.35, Kerry Hoar finished in a new PB of 23.39, fast enough for second VF40-44, and Peter Dollman scored a new PB of 29.24 (second VM60-64).

John Jales and Jamie, Erin and Lewis Marlow were on hand as volunteers at Gadebridge, while Michelle Ashwell, Rob Deane, Vicky Thornley and Rob Wright made it happen at South Oxhey.
