Dacorum & Tring runners put in the hard miles as marathon season looms large

A group of 20 Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runners took advantage of the fine late winter weather to put in the miles in preparation for the spring marathon season.

Luke Waller, Rasmi Nanda, Duncan Hamilton, Douglas Hamilton, Ania Gabb, Kelly Du Buisson, Chris Kitchener, Michelle Ashwell, Casper Du Buisson, Angela Aikman, Jessica Tanner, Hannah Bennett, Jules Robinson, Tina Le, Rachel Lewis, Esther Hamilton, Kirsty Russell, John Stevens, Andrew Cracknell and Jack Parslow headed over to Boxmoor to take on the GVH 17-mile marathon training run, as they ramp up their training for marathons in Paris, Manchester, Brighton and London in April.

In other news, club member Anya Higgins headed down south to run in the Rowans Hospice ‘Race with Rowan’ 10k in Portsmouth, finishing in an easy 63.05, while Robert Lewis travelled to Sussex to run the Brighton Half Marathon, finishing in a new PB of 1.56.05.

In parkrun news, 27 D&T runners bagged six overall PBs and two course PBs as they travelled to eight different meets.

Cassiobury had the biggest showing with 10 D&T runners in action. First club member home was Michael Kazer in 19.08, followed by Sam Fawcett who was the first lady across the line in a new PB of 19.14.

Next home was Chris Marriott in 19.38, ahead of Becky Fawcett in 22.22, Michelle Ashwell (24.24 and first in her age group), Tim Coysh (24.34). Kayleigh Halvey (27.07 PB), Clare Hunt and Annette Howard (28.10).

Over at Gadebridge parkrun, Jack Parslow was first across the line in a time of 17.34, while Keith Wishart was also in the top 10 top finishers in 23.08. Celia Findlay ran a new PB of 24.14 and was the first lady across the line, with Michael Lamb just 1s behind her. Other finishers were Giles Leather (25.49), Jess Tanner (28.08), Callypso Phillips (29.37), Esther Hamilton and Rasmi Nanda (46.12).

Elsewhere, Louise Flower (24.56 PB) and Rebecca White (28.47) travelled to Gunpowder parkrun in Essex, while Hannah Bennett was the first lady home at Ally Pally parkrun in a new PB of 22.16.

Jan Strachan was at Cannon Hill parkrun in Birmingham, clocking 23.05 for first in her age group, and Sam Sullivan was third lady overall at the notoriously difficult Tring parkrun.

At Alice Holt in Hampshire, Anya Higgins ran a new course PB of 30.30, while St Albans parkrun saw Alan Grover finish in 28.15 and Peter Bailey in 32.32. At South Oxhey, Rob Deane posted a new course PB of 26.18.
