Dacorum & Tring romp to victory at Southern Athletics League meet

Dacorum & Tring AC scored a convincing win in the third round of the 2015 Southern Athletics League series held in St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

D&T finished on a total of 326 points, ahead of Huntingdon (300), Peterborough (268), Orion (222) and West Norfolk (137).

There were excellent performances from both the ladies’ and men’s teams, with a number of athletes filling in events they had never done before – the team had 27 first places, with 15 for the ladies and 12 for the men.

The top points scorer for the ladies’ team was Phillipa Lowe with 22 points, earned from wins in the 100m A (12.4s), 200m A (25.7m) and 400m A (55.8m).

Other wins went to Amber Carroll in the 100m hurdles A (18.6s), 400m hurdles A (71.6s) and javelin A (21.7m), Lauren Evans in the 100m B (14.3s) and pole vault A (2.35m), Sarah Grover in the 1,500m A (4.59m) and 2,000m steeplechase A (7.35.5mins), Zoe Williams in the 200m B (26.9s) and long jump A (4.93m), Cathie Woolfrey in the discus B (15.01m), Emily Higgins in the 2,000m steeplechase B (10.14.1mins) and the 4 x 100m squad (53.0s).

The highest points scorer in the men’s team was Shaun Wall with 19, thanks to wins in the javelin B (44.68m), the 400m hurdles and the steeplechase.

Other first places went to Trevor Ratcliffe in the javelin A (49.19m) and discus B (30.89m), Chris Line in the discus A (35.85m) and shot B (8.64m), Joshua van Heiningen in the 1,500m A (4.23.0mins), Rhys Rowlands in the 1,500m B (4.35mins), John Hopper in the 110m hurdles B (20.6s), Mike Garden in the pole vault A (3.40m), Courtney Long in the long jump A (6.44m), Daniel Hopper in the long jump B (5.95m) and Jackson Cowans in the triple jump A (12.56m).
