Dacorum & Tring Road Runners were out in force at the Marlow 5 mile race

There were personal achievements at both ends of the scale – from Jamie Marlow, fifth overall for the men in a huge new PB, to Helen Reardon, who completed the race at seven months pregnant.

The ladies came out on top, with Ania Gabb, Sam Fawcett and Lizzie Roberts picking up the trophy for the winning ladies’ team, and Samantha Sullivan finishing as first VF40 vet.

Sam Sullivan, Becky Fawcett and Alison Sullivan also picked up the prize for third ladies’ team across the line, while Clare Hunt, Jennifer Weedon and Debbie Kennard were seventh team out of 34.

Jamie, Chris Marriott and Matt Hamilton combined for fifth-fastest men’s team, while Chris Kitchener, Darren Mills and Richard Bentley were 12th.

There were also some astonishing PBs: Rob Wright took more than seven minutes off his previous best; Alison Richardson was three minutes under her previous best; Vicky Thornley went under 40 minutes for the first time; Richard Belsey took a minute off his PB, and many more runners dug in deep to finish strongly as they recovered from injury or time off after spring marathons.

Jamie Marlow 28.01 (new PB by a minute). 1.45 faster than last year, when he came 16th.
