The Tring T/20 Blast aims to attract new members to the club who will enjoy a shorter, more social type of cricket.

The new Sunday League recognises that there are many former players, parents of colts and those who simply don’t have the time to play a traditional style of cricket, but who will like the idea of something that is ‘fun, fast and with frequent four balls.’

All those who sign up for the league will join one of four squads: Tigers, Panthers, Cougars or Cheetahs.

During the inaugural 2015 season, each squad will play one match against the other three teams and there will be an end of season ‘Big Blast’ when all four squads will take part in a knock-out challenge.

“We’re simply responding to social trends”, said club chairman Simon Shearman. “People today are time precious, so the way to keep Sundays busy at the club in the summer is to offer a shorter game of cricket.

“We’ll start early afternoon and then light the barbecue. Games should last no more than three hours. Whether you are playing or spectating, what better way to finish a weekend?”
