Helm – the brother of new Middlesex County import Tom Helm – gave Tring the necessary oomph to get up to a decent score from 45 overs.

Hemel set off in chase, with Hemish Ilangaratne scoring 56 and his opening partner Brett Penny finishing on 106 n/o from 118 balls.

However, Tring’s opening bowlers Helm and Simon Stanway – who took 1-34 from his 10 overs – kept the Hemel run chase under wraps for half of the time and Hemel ended up 13 runs short of the Tring total.

Meanwhile, Hemel Town II played a 40-over game against Tring Park II and ended up losing by 10 runs.

Tring made 215-7 from their allotted overs, while Hemel scored 204-5.

A couple of notable performances for Hemel came from Scott Radcliffe who took four wickets, and Ed Langley who scored 45 not out.
