Khan hits ton as Bucks make it two from two

A youthfull Buckinghamshire side made it back-to-back wins in the MCCA Unicorns Eastern Division with a 125-run victory over Norfolk.

Having been put into bat by the visitors, an unchanged Bucks team – whose average age is just 22 – made a disastrous start on Sunday when Charlie McDonnell was dismissed first ball of the match, but fellow opener Alex Morgan and Shaan Khan dominated the bowlers by adding 170 runs for the second wicket.

Morgan departed for 69 but Khan was the star of the show as he went onto score a brilliant 141 from 159 balls, including 20 fours and one six, as his innings, aided by Rob White’s 48, saw Bucks to 353.

Tom Hampton made early inroads into Norfolk’s reply as he took two wickets in his first two overs to reduce the visitors to 3-2 before Gary Park’s 109 helped them recover.

However, Hampton went onto take 6-79 as Norfolk were dismissed for 225, giving Bucks a lead of 128 – and they continued to dominate when Morgan struck 53 and Khaan hit a quickfire 30 before the home side declared on 199-5.

Needing 328 to win, Norfolk made a brisk start and reached 42-0 but Matt Rance continued his recent superb form by running through the top-order and taking the first five wickets of the innings.

Hampton also got in on the act as he backed up his first innings efforts by claiming 2-53, while Rance finished with 6-85, as Bucks bowled the visitors out for 202 to seal victory.
