Aylesbury put themselves in pole position in promotion battle

Aylesbury continued their fine run of form with an excellent 6-2 win over a youthful but strong Marlow side.

The Aylesbury attack was sublime at times with Chris Hunter and man of the match Austin Greenlea each bagging a brace, while Marc Hignell and Dan Linders chipped in with one apiece.

The win takes Aylesbury to level on points with leaders Milton Keynes at the top of MBBO Division Two, and they have a game in hand over all of their rivals.

Promotion is a real possibility but perhaps their toughest game of the season awaits when they face fellow promotion rivals British Airways at Halton on Saturday.

Aylesbury’s men’s IIs welcomed Harrow to Halton this week and were frustrated by their fellow promotion chasers in a 2-2 draw.

Goals from Dave How and Dan Best looked to have given Aylesbury all three points but the home side conceded in the final 30 seconds to give Harrow a share of the spoils.

Aylesbury still have hopes of gaining promotion but must win all of their remaining games to do so.

Finally, the club’s third team completed the double against the once high flying Ramgharia with a fine 4-2 victory. Man of the match Kevin Bond was on target alongside Mike Battye, Ed Gurney and Paul Slater.
