Calling all solo female travellers - travel company TourRadar is offering women the chance to win an adventure of a lifetime in a new competition.
In celebration of International Women's Day this week (8 March), the company is giving away $2,000 (approximately £1,552) in travel credits to one solo woman in order for her to tour a destination of her choice.
Solo travelling among women has increased in popularity in recent years, with a 2018 study from Hostelworld revealing that bookings by solo female travelers increased by 45 percent from 2015 to 2017, compared with a 40 percent increase for men.
The lucky winner of this competition will be joining those ranks of solo female travellers, and will have plenty of choice when it comes to picking an experience. Offers range from Greek Island hopping to hiking the Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu.
Destinations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Iceland among others will all be up for grabs in the giveaway, meaning you can finally tick some things off your bucket list.
How to apply
Though the credit will be in dollars, the competition is open to UK women.
To apply, you'll have to either submit a one minute long video explaining why the solo adventure is perfect for you, or write 250 words on the same theme. You can see more details about the competition and apply here.
If you can think of a friend who would be perfect for the task, you can also nominate them for the competition - so you can win the prize of being the world's best friend.
What is International Women's Day?
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
It has been celebrated on 8 March every year since 1910 when it was proposed at the International Socialist Woman's Conference. In some areas of the world, the day is now earmarked as a national holiday, while in others the day is marked by protest.
