This is everything you need to know about the new Saved by the Bell reboot
American high school sitcom Saved by the Bell is coming back to our TV screens after finishing its original run in 1993.
The reboot is picking up 30 years after the original series left off, with returning cast member Mario Lopez as A.C. Slater asking fellow castmate Elizabeth Berkley as Jesse Spano: “Remember how much fun high school used to be?”

Who is starring in the reboot?
Original cast stars Mario Lopez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, Elena of Avalor) and Elizabeth Berkley (CSI: Miami, The L Word) are both returning as A. C. Slater and Jesse Spano respectively.
Fellow original cast member Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Mixed-ish, The Passage) will also return as Zack Morris.
New cast members for the reboot include:

Hide AdJohn Michael Higgins (Bob’s Burgers, Big Hero 6: The Series) will also star as Principal Ronald Toddman, who has taken over from Mr. Belding’s (Dennis Haskins) role as the head of Bayside High.
It was announced that Tiffani Thiessen (Alexa and Katie, White Collar) would reprise her role as Kelly Kapowski for one episode.
The series is headed by showrunner Tracey Wigfield, who is known as writer for the award winning comedy 30 Rock, as well as The Mindy Project.
What happens in the reboot?
The reboot will take viewers 30 years on from the events at California’s Bayside High, where local politician Zack Morris is forced to merge together two rival high schools thanks to a local government scandal.

Hide AdGovernor Morris faces backlash for closing too many low-income high schools, and decided to send lower-income students to the highest performing schools in the state.
At Bayside High, this merger inevitably creates a rift between the town’s richer and poorer teenagers.
Meanwhile, Zack’s old friend A.C. Slater is working as a gym teacher at the high school.

The trailer opens up with Slater saying: “Do you remember how fun high school used to be?”

We see the new students at the school mingling - and some clashing.
In the trailer, Slater can be seen talking to two pupils who have clearly been in a fight.
“When I was in high school, I constantly used to fight with my best friend over a hot girl. That was actually your dad, over your mom,” Slater says, pointing to one sullen looking student - Mac Morris, son of Zack Morris.

Hide AdHe continues: “Then I’d just find another girl I really liked and I’d start hooking up with her instead. Oh wait, that was your mom,” pointing to the other student - Jamie Spano, Jesse’s son.
When can I watch it?
The series is planned to drop in the US on a new streaming service called Peacock, from NBC, later this year.
There has been no confirmed UK release date yet.
