Large cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, and Glasgow made it onto the list, with more than 60 per cent of employees surveyed in those cities saying they worked with friends. But it was Belfast that topped the table, where 90 per cent of respondents said their colleagues were friends.

Notably, London did not make it onto the list, despite being the economic centre of the UK.

Lee Biggins, CEO and founder of CV-Library commented, “With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love is truly in the air for workers in Leeds.

“And this is a positive update. After all, we spend the majority of our time at work, so not having any genuine friends can feel very isolating.

“While it’s tough to push yourself out of your comfort zone and have conversations with your colleagues, it’s a great way to build positive relationships - and your confidence will grow with it.”

“It’s a fact of life that you’re not going to be liked by everyone at work, however, you shouldn’t let this get you down,” said Biggins.

“Try not to worry too much about it; focus on being yourself and doing a good job. Everybody makes mistakes, but it’s important to use them as learning opportunities.

“Always ask for feedback as it’s a great way to show proactiveness, maturity and a willingness to succeed! Plus, it could help you form strong working relationships.”
