Reading and Leeds Festivals announce plans for next year - here's what you should know

Leeds Festival has revealed its list of headliners for next year's festival, with double the number of acts compared to previous years.

Hide AdLiam Gallagher, Stormzy and Post Malone are just some of the acts set to headline the festival, alongside Catfish and the Bottlemen, Queens of the Stone Age and Disclosure.
Who else is booked to play?
Other musicians booked to play at the festival include Lewis Capaldi, Two Door Cinema Club and Doja Cat.
To ensure there isn't any headliner clashes, the six headliners will all be performing over two separate stages at staggered times.

Hide AdThe managing director of Festival Republic, Melvin Benn, said, "After an absence of a year we are delighted to announce the 2021 return to Reading's Richfield Avenue and Leeds' Bramham Park in 2021 with our most epic plan yet.
"Two main stages, six headliners, the best line up of acts 2021 will see and 200,000 fans are going to celebrate the best music in the best music festivals in Britain."
Liam Gallagher responded to the announcement on social media writing, "Yes Brothers and Sisters, I come bearing good news...Yours Truly is headlining Reading & Leeds 2021. C'MON YOU KNOW. LG"

Hide AdMeanwhile Disclosure said, "We last headlined Reading & Leeds in 2016 with our friends Foals, it was amazing fun and we can’t wait to return next year when it’ll be even more special."
Criticisms over lack of female artists
However, while the much awaited list has sparked excitement for many music fans, the chosen headliners has drawn much criticism online due to its lack of female acts.
One user wrote, "no female headliners. we love this display of misogyny in 2021".

Hide AdWhile another listed several female musicians deemed suitable for the job, including Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey and Florence and the Machine.
