A large group of young hopefuls went through a series of open days, tests and interviews before the final five were chosen to begin their on-the-job training with TfB.

The apprenticeships, supported by college courses, cover a wide range of TfB activities and the successful apprentices will be offered continuing roles with TfB or on the wider Ringway Jacobs contracts at the end of their term.

The apprenticeships include two highways maintenance engineers, a civil engineer, a quantity surveyor and a finance assistant.

Ruth Vigor-Hedderly, Bucks County Council cabinet member for transport, joined the five successful candidates at their induction last Wednesday.

She said: “We’re very proud to be able to support these young local people as they start their career journey with Transport for Bucks and we wish them every success for the future with us.”
