Primary school children invited senior citizens to a tea party to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe.
Pupils from Bierton Church of England Combined School welcomed villagers to the school this afternoon (Friday) for a tea party with entertainment.
Every pensioner that attended was provided with a Union Jack bowler hat to take away.
The visitors enjoyed cups of tea, biscuits and scones which were donated to the school by the Tesco based in Tring Road, Aylesbury.
Pupils put on entertainment throughout the afternoon including the Activate Dancers performing to ‘Fame’, some flexible gymnastic routines, a version of the song ‘Castle in the Clouds’ from Les Miserables and jokes.
The afternoon was finished off with a class assembly all about World War Two and Rev. Mark Ackford led the school in a two minute silence at 3pm, followed by a blessing.
Headteacher Jenny Martin said: “The afternoon could not have happened without the organisation from the office staff - Mrs Alison Baker and Mrs Debbie Wheeler, for whom I am very grateful for their time and preparation for today.
“Every member of the community who attended commented on how lovely the afternoon was and how they had thoroughly enjoyed coming into the school and watching the entertainment from the children.”
