World's biggest cuddly hedgehog stops off in Princes Risborough!

Spike weighs at least eight kilos and will hibernate in Clicketty Clack The Wool Shop until August 6.

Mary Clements of the shop said the children “think he’s absolutely great, he’s so big and squishy and they certainly all think he’s lovely.”

He was made by King Cole knitting patterns with 33 balls of Tinsel Chunky yarn and 30 bags of toy stuffing, and is thought to be the largest knitted hedgehog in the world.

They used a template four times as big as one which should take around two hours to knit. Although he was knitted off-site, Mary estimates that Spike took a solid week.

She said: “He’s taking up a lot of room, because he’s rightly sat on top of two tables at the moment, where we usually have a yarn display, but he’s elbowed that out of the way.

“He is an enormous project who is just a thing to behold.”

Clicketty Clack specialises in King Cole Yarns and King Cole Patterns and is encouraging parents and children to come to the shop and take a selfie with Spike.

There is no charge to see him but a donation in the charity boxes would be appreciated.

The shop is open for visitors between 10am and 4.30pm on Monday through to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays.
