Woman with rare condition throwing bash to find a cure

Annabelle Moult, 32, was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica – known as NMO – six years ago.

It means she needs a magnifying glass to read and a wheelchair to get around.

Last year, her good friend Lucy O’Hare, 36, conquered the Blenheim Palace Triathlon and raised more than £3,000 for the US-based Guthy Jackson Foundation - which continues to search for a cure.

But there is now a UK-based charity so she is hosting a fundraising do at Thame United Football Club.

There will be a hog roast, live band and prize draws at the club on August 29 from 7pm until midnight and money raised will go to NMO-UK. Tickets are £15.

Annabelle, who lives in Long Crendon with husband Danny, said: “I always try to maintain a sense of humour and never say ‘why me?’

“My friends and family have been amazing and I couldn’t have got to where I am today without their help, love and support.

“I am holding an event at Thame United Football Club to raise money for NMO and there is now a UK charity for it.

“I am trying to raise money and awareness to help raise funds for research for this horrid illness.”
