Wheelchair user who died after camper van crash named

The pensioner who died after she was struck by a camper van in Haddenham has been named.

Janice Kimber, 69, was being pushed in a wheelchair along a pavement in the village by a 52-year-old woman when they were both hit by a red VW camper van.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and Mrs Kimber, who lived in Dovecote, Haddenham, was rushed to Stoke Mandeville Hospital but she died there shortly afterwards.

The Bucks Coroner’s Office confirmed an inquest has been officially opened.

The other woman suffered multiple broken bones and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

It happened in Stanbridge Road - close to the fire station - around 1.50pm on Thursday, September 10 and police are appealing for witnesses tot he incident.

The driver of the VW camper van has been identified but no arrests have been made.

PC Alan Turnbull, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Bicester, is urging anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the camper van before it happened.”
