Sally Kilpin, of Tring, took this winning image of a zebra, entitled ‘A Striking Pose’ was chosen after a rigorous selection process by a panel of esteemed judges, including ZSL Honorary Conservation Fellow, television presenter Kate Humble and ornithologist Bill Oddie who also presented the awards at the VIP launch and awards ceremony at London Zoo.

The judges were impressed by the unusual angle of the zebra, captured by Sally at Whipsnade Zoo, and her editing skills in transforming the background and creating an impressive contrasting effect with the zebra’s patterns.

Sally said: “I am shocked and humbled by this wonderful prize. It is an immense honour to be awarded an international category winner, especially with such stiff competition from across the globe.

“I’m very excited to see the image on display so close to home at Whipsnade Zoo, back in the place where I captured it!”

In addition to a respectable prize of £1,000, the winning image will also be on display amongst the other category winners in a public exhibition at ZSL London Zoo from the end of September into late 2014.

The images, which are blown up onto impressive boards, will then be on public display at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo throughout 2015.
