The gigs at the Waterside Theatre on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1 will be the first proper dates that King Crimson have played in the UK since the eighties.

They will be playing material right across their career going right back to their classic first album In The Court of The Crimson King.

This week it was revealed that the band will be playing different sets on the two Friars dates. Guitarist Robert Fripp will be presenting a ‘Soundscape’ presentation from 7pm each night before the King Crimson show at 7.30pm.

King Crimson first played Friars Aylesbury way back in July 1969 when Friars was based at the New Friarage Hall in Walton Street and used to run on Monday nights. Of the 50 dates that Friars presented in its first year it was the only one that sold out.

Friars promoter David Stopps has interviewed King Crimson lead singer and second guitarist Jakko Jakszyk about the upcoming Friars dates in four parts which are available to view on Youtube (the first part is embedded into this article).

The 2015 King Crimson are Robert Fripp (guitar), Mel Collins (sax - played with Camel at Friars 3 times), Tony Levin (bass – played with King Crimson and Peter Gabriel at Friars), Jakko Jakszyk (vocals/guitar – guest vocalist with Steve Hackett at Friars in 2013) and no less than three drummers; Pat Mastellotto, Gavin Harrison and Bill Reiflin.
