Staff at Calibre Audio Library in Weston Turville are bringing festive cheer to thousands of blind and partially sighted people nationwide this Christmas.
Over the past year, 365,000 audio books have been sent to over 17,688 members across the country, many of whom are elderly and housebound.
An army of 160 volunteers, including professional readers who record books unavailable anywhere else to people who cannot read print, have given over 16,500 hours of their time to support the service.
Director Michael Lewington has asked library staff once again to despatch extra titles to members to ensure they have enough books over Yuletide.
He said: “We know how important our books are to members especially those who may be alone this Christmas. I would like to thank all our staff and volunteers for going that extra mile in the run up to the Christmas period to enable thousands of people to enjoy our audio books.”
