UPDATED: Man arrested after absconding from prison
Police in south Manchester have arrested a 47-year-old man for escaping from lawful custody.
John Rooney was remanded in police custody after being arrested by Greater Manchester Police last night (Monday).
A 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of harbouring an offender and she remains in police custody for questioning.
Rooney, who was serving a 27-year sentence for kidnap and robbery absconded from HMP Springhill in Grendon Underwood on August 24.
