UPDATED: Anti-fox hunting campaigner to have stand at Bucks County Show

Katie Angus’s petition has now been signed by more than 115,000 people from the UK and around the world.

The mum-of-one claims that displaying hounds and hunts promotes fox hunting and called upon organisers to give a presence to anti-fox hunting campaigners at the show.

Organisers offered the 31-year-old marketing manager the chance to have a small stand adjacent to the police pod.

Bucks County Show press officer Ray Stollery said Mrs Angus had sent them a letter confirming she would accept the invitation.

In the letter, Mrs Angus says she wishes to reflect the support of the petition and provide those that are interested with information aboout Fox Welfare.

She added that she wished to have the opportunity to discuss with people the views of anti-hunt campaigners.

Mrs Angus will be one of four people manning the stand. She told organisers that she felt it would not be feasible for one person to man a stand at a show with an expected footfall of 20,000.

It will be the first time in the show’s history that an anti-fox hunting stand has had a presence at the event at Weedon Park.

Mr Stollery added the show was still waiting on some final documentation from Mrs Angus but he did not envisage any problems.

Show secretary Alison Baylis said last week: “The Bucks County Show is a very successful one day County Show with in excess of 250 trade stands and exhibitors and approximately 20,000 visitors.

“We have an application period for trade stands, which closed in March 2015 and as in previous years have a full show ground site with a mixture of exhibitors. “We have a waiting list of approximately 20 charities and non-charities who would like trade stand space at this year’s show, but due to the confines of the site and to ensure we adhere to our Event Management Plan we simply cannot accommodate any more stands.

“The BCAA committee has made an exception to this and as a gesture of goodwill have adjusted an exhibit to offer Katie Angus the opportunity of applying for a maximum of a four metre Trade Stand at this year’s show.”

The Bucks Herald has contacted Mrs Angus and is awaiting a response.
