Wellington House Surgery in Princes Risborough and Chinnor and Trinity Health Centre in Thame, Long Crendon and Brill are hoping to become one GP practice on 1st October 2017 and will be seeking feedback from patients on their proposal.
The planned merger would give patients greater access to GPs, nurses and other primary care support services.
Patients would still have access to all the surgeries currently operated by the practices, so this would not affect where they go to for face-to-face appointments. By combining services, however, the merger would create a larger, more efficient GP practice that supports patients more effectively.
Dr Stephen Stamp, Lead GP Partner at Wellington House Surgery, said: “A merger would bring benefits for our patients, enabling us as clinicians to continue to offer high quality and diverse services , while streamlining some of our systems and processes and supporting our patients better.
“There is a growing population and merging our two practices will allow us to ensure we are a strong, future-proof health facility in Buckinghamshire for generations to come.”
Both practices are high performing, exceeding national and local targets; serving a similar population and providing an extensive range of services for patients
Merging the two practices provides an opportunity to make services more effective and efficient, improving the practices’ ability to provide excellent, high quality patient care.
Dr Stuart Logan, Partner at Trinity Health, continued: “As a merged practice we would want to deliver improved patient centric services for all our patients and especially those with long term conditions like diabetes and ensure we are able to better support them with self-care and care planning.
“We also want to look at how we can better manage urgent demand for appointments on the day, use new technologies more and develop our links with social services to support some of our more vulnerable patients.”
Patients’ registration would be unaffected by the proposed merger.
