Tributes to seven-year-old boy ‘with infectious smile’ who died in bypass crash

Mohammed Ali Ahmed, who lived in Belgrave Road and was a pupil at Haydon Abbey School in Aylesbury, died last week when the car he was a passenger in was hit by a lorry on the A4146 Stoke Hammond bypass.

His headteacher Judith Ejdowski released a tribute on his family’s behalf.

She said: “Mohammed Ali Ahmed was a hardworking and enthusiastic little boy with a huge passion for learning.

“He was very adventurous and loved to try new things.

“He was a very happy little boy with an infectious smile and loved to entertain his classmates by telling jokes and stories.

“He was always polite, kind and helpful to his classmates but also had a cheeky edge which endeared him to everyone who knew him.​

“Mohammed Ali was a very popular member of the class and this was summed up by one of his friends, ‘Mohammed Ali was always very friendly and I will miss him’.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash which happened at 2.17pm on Friday, March 20 on the A4146 Stoke Hammond bypass near the junction with the B4032 Leighton Road.

A silver Toyota RAV 4 was involved in a collision with a blue DAF lorry on the south bound dual carriageway.

Investigating officer, PS Ed Crofts said: “We have heard from several witnesses who have come forward following our initial appeal and I would like to thank them.

“We would still like anyone who was in the area at the time and saw either vehicle leading up to or during the collision to contact PC Sandra Terry on our non-emergency number 101.

“In particular, we would like to hear from anybody who saw a Silver Toyota Rav 4 stationary on the southbound dual carriageway just south of the junction with the B4032 Leighton Road near Leighton Buzzard at approximately 2pm.

“The investigation continues and the family has asked for privacy at this time so that they can cope with their bereavement.”

A 33-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
