The leader of Aylesbury Town Council has paid tribute to former town mayor Chloe Willetts following her recent passing.
Chloe Willetts was mayor from 1992 to 1994 and was known for building strong links with the community, including her work as a school governor for many years.
Aylesbury Town Council leader Mike Smith said: “I did know Chloe for some years and was even a lodger in her house for a few months, so I knew at first hand what a generous and caring human being she was.
“She showed kindness to everyone she met without ever being the slightest bit judgemental about them.
“She was indeed a pillar of the Aylesbury community, through her many years of teaching as well as council service and many other voluntary roles she took up.
“Also her home and wonderful garden was the venue for numerous Lib Dem party events over many years.”
A statement on the Aylesbury Town Council website said: “The mayor, councillors and staff of Aylesbury Town Council are very sad to hear the news of the death of Alderman and former mayor, Chloe Willetts.
“A church service to celebrate the life of Chloe and her commitment and work in the community will be taking place on Monday, February 16 at 1.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Aylesbury.
“Her family welcome everyone who knew Chloe to join the service and to remember her.”
Chloe will be cremated at Amersham Crematorium at 11.30am on Monday, February 16 and all are welcome to attend.
