Police are on the hunt for information after an octogenarian's house was broken into in Monks Risborough.

Thames Valley Police Detective Constable Gareth Cowley described the attempted robbery, which took place on Thursday 14 May at 9.15pm, as 'frightening'.

He said the burglars were dressed from head to toe in black, with 'black face coverings'.

Police are looking for anybody who saw an Audi TT in silver flee the scene near Aylesbury Road, as It's believed this is the vehicle the two would be burglars used.

The 89-year-old homeowner was asleep when the offenders tried to break into the property.

She was woken by the noise at the front door.

The two offenders attempted to get into the house via the front door, but they fled after being disturbed.

The Detective Constable added: "

“We are appealing to anyone with information to contact the force as soon as possible.

"We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who saw a silver Audi TT car in the area, as we believe the offenders may have travelled in this vehicle.

“If you have any information which could assist please leave the information on our website, using the reference 43200142910."
