Tennis club wins funding for junior all-weather court

Bierton Lawn Tennis Club has received a £5,750 funding award from SITA Trust for a new mini-red junior court with practice rebound wall.

This will add to the contributions of £3,885 from The Bucks Community Foundation, £1,900 from the Gib Lane Community Fund, £1,000 from Aylesbury Vale Community Chest, £500 from the Bucks Playing Field Association and £500 from Bierton with Broughton Parish Council.

This project will see a new all-weather playing surface laid for a junior mini-red court, next to the two existing full-sized courts. A rebound practice wall will be built at one end of the new court.

The tennis club’s secretary Anne Piggford, who is overseeing the project, said: “This will be a great new facility for our members and we hope that it will encourage more kids to get out and get actively involved in tennis at our Club. We are extremely grateful to all the funders supporting us and to the SITA Trust for giving us such a

large contribution to the cost of the project.”

Marianne Ivin of SITA Trust added: “We are all in favour of creating

accessible sports facilities for everyone and aiding the creation of courts suitable for children is a great idea. We look forward to seeing the new ‘mini red’ court in action. SITA Trust provides grants through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.4 billion.”
