Teenage thug jailed for knife and bottle attacks on multiple victims

A teenager has been jailed after separate attacks which left his victims with serious injuries.

On December 8 2014, Ruben Smith, 19 of New Road Princes Risborough stabbed a 29 year-old man in the chest causing a collapsed lung and a fractured shoulder blade.

For this offence he was convicted of one count of wounding with intent, one count of having a blade in a public place and one count of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

In November 2015 Smith pleaded guilty to this and another crime where he caused injuries, he was sentenced to three years in a young offender’s institute for each of the assaults.

And on Wednesday Smith was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with four years on extended licence for a separate incident in February last year.

In that incident Smith entered a home in Longwick Road, Princes Risborough and assaulted two 18 year-old men, a 17-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman.

Part of the attack saw Smith causing serious injury to a man by hitting him over the head with a glass bottle.

Investigating officer, Andy Hall, said: “Smith committed two very serious GBH offences in Princes Risborough involving a number of victims who sustained severe injuries.

“I am pleased with the lengthy sentences that have been given to Smith and I hope that his time behind bars enables him to think about 
the consequences of his actions.”
