Aqua Vale Swimming & Fitness Centre is hoping to inspire people to take part in a month-long activity charity campaign.
The leisure centre, operated by Everyone Active with Aylesbury Vale District Council, is launching its campaign today, Wednesday – UK Active’s National Fitness Day.
As part of the month-long initiative, Everyone Active will be running activity challenges at all its centres for members, guests and colleagues.
Participants will be encouraged to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, a charity that matches individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people who need lifesaving transplants.
Each week there will be a different activity focus, such as fitness, swim or group exercise, and all of the money raised will go towards the Anthony Nolan Trust.
The initiative will run until October 11, coinciding with National Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
Today, non-members can take part free of charge in an activity challenge that is running all day long at the gym.
Participants will be challenged to cycle, run and row at least 1km on the gym’s equipment.
Members and guests will also be challenged to swim the most amount of lengths in 30 minutes.
Each participant will be entered into a prize draw to win three months’ free membership.
Everyone taking part is asked to donate £1 to the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Many other fundraising activities will also take place throughout the month, including children’s activities and group exercise sessions.
For every member who joins from today until October 11, Everyone Active will also donate £1 to the Anthony Nolan Trust.
