Work begins on a new community orchard in Haddenham tomorrow (Saturday).
The parish council and residents met to discuss plans for the orchard just off Townsend Green in Haddenham in August.
It is hoped it will include a variety of English apple, cherry, plum, quince and pear trees together with soft fruit bushes.
The first planting day at the orchard takes place tomorrow morning from 11am.
Helpers are guaranteed a warm welcome and cups of tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
The proposed layout of the orchard incorporates an open meeting area with benches and tables.
It is hoped that local schools will use the facility for educational purposes.
There are also plans to hold annual events such as celebrating midsummer and apple pressing days for the community to enjoy.
Trees will be funded by donations and the planting and maintenance of trees will be led by the community.
