Shortlist for Bucks design awards announced
The awards are given to buildings with a nice design which make a contribution to the surrounding area.
The seven shortlisted schemes are:
Hastoe Housing Association schemes in Mursley, Marsh Gibbon and Tingewick – community projects on rural sites designed to reflect the area’s locality.

Sunny Hill Farmhouse, Padbury – a 16th/17th century house that uses period materials combined with a modern rear extension to provide a village home.
Stowe Music School – the new building has a tripartite form to reflect its historic setting and relationship with surrounding landscaped park.
The Pointer, Brill – Renovation and improvement of an old pub together with provision of a butcher’s shop in a rebuilt outbuilding.
Chandos Yard, Long Crendon – An unoccupied listed pub and outbuildings on a derelict site have been redeveloped to provide offices and a new family home.

Cherry Tree Barn at Bragenham Lane, near Great Brickhill – A new rural family home, based around an existing cow shed, using reused materials to provide an environmentally efficient home.
The Grove, Stockgrove Park, near Great Brickhill – one of a pair of new spacious contemporary and sustainable luxury homes in an historic setting.
Councillor Sue Polhill, cabinet member for planned development, design and conservation said: “The design awards are a celebration of the great design and architecture in Aylesbury Vale.
“We know how important high quality, well-designed buildings are to the lives of residents and the wider community as the district continues to grow and change. “It’s wonderful to see so many schemes that make a positive and inspirational addition to the built environment.”
The winning scheme will be announced at a ceremony on November 26.
