Budget supermarket chain Aldi has quashed the rumour that plans for its second Aylesbury store have been shelved.
An Aldi spokesman confirmed that the 17,211 sq ft store with 105 parking spaces planned for the former Camden Vauxhall site in Rimmington Way is still scheduled to open next year.
Plans for the new store to be built on the disused land next to The Charter Pub were given the green light in May last year but no construction work has taken place since.
Planning officers are currently reviewing the store’s travel plan, which details how staff and customers would access the site and aims to encourage customers to visit the store on foot or by bicycle.
The town’s other Aldi store, on Cambridge Street, was opened by Keith Chegwin in 2008.
