Sadness over charity ball poster sabotage

A glamorous charity ball which will raise money for animals, children and the elderly has been put at risk after vandals destroyed a promotional banner.

Gemma Prophet, who lives in Whitchurch put up posters and the banner in the village to promote the Barretstown Ball, which will support charities the Cinnamon Trust, DEBRA and the Ardley Rescue Kennels.

But the new mum, who works as a vet, was flabbergasted when the banner was slashed, and the posters were taken down on two separate occasions.

She said: “I really got quite emotional when it happened the second time.

“I don’t know why people are doing it, all they are doing is taking money away from the charities.

“Ardley Rescue Kennels do brilliant work, and they have also helped by printing the posters, so these people are taking money directly from them.”

Tickets for the event, which is on May 14 at the Barretstown Stud cost £75 a head, or £70 a head if you book a table of ten.
