Reveller glassed during New Year celebrations at Niche

A man was attacked during the New Year celebrations at Niche nightclub in Aylesbury, police said this week.

The incident happened at about 1.15am on New Year’s Day at the club in Kingsbury Square.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, and his girlfriend were in the outdoor smoking area.

They joined three men at a table before one of the men assaulted the victim by hitting him on the neck.

Police believe that a glass was used during the assault.

The victim sustained a laceration to the neck and was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, however he has since been discharged.

The offender is described as white, in his mid twenties, of medium build, about 6ft, with shaven brown hair and a short beard and moustache.

He was wearing a black jacket, dark blue jeans and black trainers.

A 26-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and he has been released on police bail until February 21.

Investigating officer, Det Con Christopher Downs said: “If you were in Niche nightclub to join in the New Year’s celebrations and think you might have information about the incident then we would like to hear from you.

“Perhaps you saw the incident itself or recognise the description of the offender, whatever information you have please contact police.”
